Sick of being on it? Sick of falling off it?
I was too. But this isn’t about me, I’m already off the wagon without any chance of putting myself back on it. You see..when you decide to permanently get your ass off the wagon..you realize pretty quickly that you never, ever want back on that torture device.
To diet (as most of us understand it to be) is to be in a relatively constant state of restriction. And hey, if you can live like that, power to you..but the majority of us cannot. Which leads to overeating, over indulgence, and even binge eating. So, uh, what the hell is the point?
There is a better way. It’s simple. Not complicated.
It’s not fast and it may not be sexy, but it works and not only that..you learn to listen to your body. You learn how to eat in a way that not only nourishes you, but feeds you too. And to be fed, is to be happy, healthy, and then naturally, you can lose weight.
It’s not necessarily easy..I’m never going to promise that. You may have years or decades of baggage to unpack regarding food..but that’s okay. Working through it is soooooo worth it.
Honesty moment: I’m eating a bowl of chips as I’m writing this. I’m also going to wake my ass up at 5:30am and get in a killer workout tomorrow morning. I’ll probably have some form of Christmas treat at work tomorrow, ”tis the season after all. But I’m going to have 3 healthy meals tomorrow too. It’s balance. It’s hard work. It’s consistency.
What you do consistently is more important than what you do perfectly.
Maybe read that one again. Let it sink in.
Perfection is part of diet culture. Trying to reach perfection leads, ultimately, to failure because life is not perfect! Things happen and situations come up, cravings happen, life happens!!
Consistency lends itself to flexibility. Let’s be clear: I do not and never will advocate for a ‘fuck it’ attitude about food. But when you have flexibility built into your nutrition plan, there is no failure. You don’t need to worry about when you’ll see your next treat because you already know you can have it if you really want it!! Yay!!
